The Fitzroy River Lodge is a beautiful grassy oasis with large shade trees around the grounds. There are two ablution blocks, both clean.
None of the sites are allocated so it is drive around and pick a spot. It was heavenly having grass underfoot again. The Lodge has a swimming pool, restaurant, bar as well as safari tents, cabins and motel style accommodation.
We booked a tour which left from the Lodge, took us around the town and then we joined a boat trip to Geikie Gorge. We stayed here for two nights and it was very pleasant.
